• Our worship service typically lasts 60 minutes and takes place in our sanctuary (i.e. auditorium/chapel)

• As a first-time guest, we won’t make you stand up or otherwise single you out. We will, however, take time to say hello before and after worship. We want you to feel welcomed, not embarrassed!

• Our worship consists of music, prayers, a 20-25 minute sermon, and communion. The service might best be described as “a traditional style in a casual environment.” We include some liturgical elements (like reciting the Lord’s Prayer together) and sing a mixture of old and new songs. However, don’t come expecting a cold, formal atmosphere. We love to laugh! Lots of folks will wear shorts in the summer. Each person is invited to express their reverence to God in the way that’s most meaningful to them - whether that’s by dressing up or by lifting hands during worship.

• After the sermon, the congregation will be invited to take communion (some churches call this Eucharist or the Lord’s Supper). You don’t have to be a member of our church or denomination to participate. Communion is open to all who desire a deeper relationship with Jesus.

• Before you enter the sanctuary, you’ll see a square table with a red tablecloth. You can pick up a communion packet and an order of service here.

• We worship together at 10:45am every Sunday. The service is also posted online.

• Our worship incorporates some elements that might be considered, “traditional,” but we’re not stiff and formal about it. Instead, our service is intentionally designed to help people of all backgrounds experience God’s loving presence. We understand not everyone feels comfortable in church, so we do our best to put everyone on equal footing. Here’s a short explanation of the different parts of our worship.

• We follow the traditional Christian year as a way to help orient our minds and hearts to the story of Jesus. This means we celebrate Lent, Advent, and other seasons, which provides our worship with a sense of freshness, variety, and anticipation. Sermons sometimes incorporate texts from the Lectionary.

• Probably the main distinctive of Disciples churches is the practice of Communion/The Lord’s Supper every Sunday. You don’t have to be a member of our church to participate—all are welcome to share this special time with us. Be sure to grab a communion packet for each member of your family before you enter the sanctuary for worship.

• We would love for your whole family to join us! For kids, we provide coloring books and activity sheets near the entrance to the sanctuary. Feel free to grab whatever you need!

• If your little ones get restless, our nursery is located by the entrance to our children’s area (at the end of the hallway to the left right after you enter the front doors). We are currently in the process of hiring a nursery attendant—stay tuned!

Dress however you feel comfortable! A few folks will dress more formally, but the majority of our church dresses casually. You won’t feel out of place in jeans and a t-shirt.

As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we believe that it is not up to us to decide who is worthy to share communion. Our spiritual forbears rejected what they called “tests of fellowship” used to determine who could and could not approach the table.

We are an open table people. The communion table belongs to Jesus. It is his body that is broken, his blood poured out as we join in remembrance. And he offers himself to everyone, freely and lovingly.

If you have a relationship with Jesus, if you have accepted him as Lord and Savior, if you desire to know him better, then the table is for you. You don’t have to be perfect or fully understand what communion means. You don’t have to be a member of our church (or any church). Everyone is welcome!
