A Brief History of First Christian Church

First Christian Church is a fixture of the Hot Springs community. Our story began in 1886 when a small group of Christians new to Hot Springs felt called to organize a faith community centered on Christian unity and a return to simpler form of Christian practice. The church met in the home of one of its members for several years before moving into a building of its own, first to a space on West Grand Avenue, then later to the corner of Ouachita and West Grand (present site of the Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce). The “Old Church,” as it’s sometimes called, was dedicated on March 10, 1912 and was FCC’s home for half a century.

The church is currently located at 1806 Central Avenue, still in the heart of Hot Springs.

Much has changed in the nearly 140 years since FCC was founded, both in our church and our world, but the same God continually renews us in faith, joy, and hope. In every season we strive to care for one another and serve our community in the spirit of Jesus.

And the story isn’t over. We believe our best days are in front of us. As long as we’re following Jesus, the future is bright.
