  • Where? First Christian Church, 1806 Central Ave. Hot Springs, AR 71909.

  • Cost? None! We offer camp free of charge.

Theme Days

  • Our first week will focus on the vast universe beyond our world! Through a variety of games and activities (like making their own “moon rocks”), campers will learn about the moon, the planets, and more.

Younger campers will read Ada and the Galaxies by Alan Lightman, and older campers will read The Care and Feeding of a Pet Black Hole by Michell Cuevas.

  • This day is all about exploring the places and cultures that make up our world!

Campers will learn about the science of Earth’s magnetic field as they craft their own makeshift compass.

Our younger group will read A Ticket Around the World by Natalie Diaz, and our older group will read Day of the Dragon King by Mary Pope Osborne.

Jennifer Huffman of The Tea Horse will lead us in some traditional Japanese carnival games.

  • This Saturday is all about the natural world! Campers will learn how to make sun tea, build a nature scrapbook, and learn about the natural forces that create the hot springs from which our town takes its name.

Younger campers will read A River by Marc Martin, and older campers will read My Presentation Today is About the Anaconda by Bibi Dumon Tak.

  • For this day, all our activities will center around water!

As we learn about all the mystery and wonder of our rivers, lakes, and oceans, campers will have the chance to make their own Paper Plate Jellyfish. We’ll also learn about the science behind our own local hot springs!

Younger campers will read Tell Me About Oceans by Lisa Varchol Perron, and older campers will read Dolphins at Daybreak by Mary Pope Osborne.

We’ll wrap up with water games—sprinklers, balloons, slip & slide—and a picnic outside.

***Please send your child with a change of clothes on this day. First Christian Church will provide towels.

Register

The final day to register is June 1st.

Please download our liability waiver and upload a completed copy with your registration form or bring a completed copy when you drop your child off. If you are unable to download or print the waiver, we can provide you with a physical copy.

Additional Info

Safety Information.

Your child’s safety is of utmost importance to us. Here are a few of the measures we will take to ensure the safety of all camp participants:

  • Only persons who have been explicitly authorized will be allowed to check out and pick up your child.

  • Our facility is secure, and all doors are locked from the outside. No unauthorized persons will be allowed entry.

  • All volunteers will undergo a background check and safety training.

FAQs.

Does my child have to attend every session? Nope! Even if they can only come one Saturday, you’re welcome to sign them up. Just indicate which Saturdays they will attend on the registration form.

Where will camp take place? All camp activities will take place in the building and grounds of First Christian Church.

Is this a Vacation Bible School? Yes and no. While we do incorporate some faith-based elements, our focus is more educational than a typical VBS.

Will meals be provided? Yes! We will provide breakfast and lunch. If your child wants to bring a sack lunch, that’s fine too. Just be sure to write their name on it, and our kitchen volunteers will keep it until lunchtime.

Is transportation available? Yes! Just indicate it in the appropriate section of the registration form.

If you have any other questions just let us know!
